About the Commission
The Economic Development Commission (EDC) is composed of five residents of Essex appointed by the Selectboard for three-year terms.

The Economic Development Commission advises relevant staff departments, town commissions and committees, and the Selectboard.
EDC members strive to:
- Understand the state of the existing business community and its contribution to the vitality and future of Essex,
- Gain appreciation for the impact of emerging issues, trends and state or municipal policies on both current and prospective business development, and
- Nurture proactive programs, policies and procedures that position Essex as a preferred municipality in the State of VT in which to “do business.”

All comments from the public must be received by 9:00 am the Friday before a meeting to be included in the Reading File of the EDC Packet. In the case of a holiday/office closure on the Friday before a EDC meeting, comments are due Thursday before 9:00 am. Any comments received after the deadline will be included in the Reading File for the next meeting. Meetings are open to the public, and we encourage you to attend in person if you have comments.
