Forest Management Plans

A Forest Management Plan (FMP) is a long-term, written guide that describes how a forested property will be managed over time. FMPs describe current forest conditions, set goals for wildlife habitat, recreation, timber, and overall forest health, and provide a schedule of recommended actions to achieve those goals.

Within Essex, Forest Management Plans for Indian Brook Park and Saxon Hill have been officially approved. The FMPs have been developed to enhance forest health, increase biodiversity, and promote recreation and are not focused on timber production. Navigate to the side bar menu for more information and to access current versions of the Forest Management Plans.
